Things to do in Houston
A short vacation has turned into a staycation.
We end up going to the same restaurants, doing the same things. We need some new ideas.
Into: museums, outdoors
Not into: Alcohol

I quite enjoyed taking a guided tour of Bayou Bend. Beautiful house and gardens with the most gracious docents you could ask for.

Re: Things to do in Houston
I used to go out to IAH and take pics of the jumbo arrivals. I would stop at a Mexican food truck on my way out to get fish tacos and a Mexican Coke and then shot slides at the airport. It was so badass to project those images a couple weeks later.
I lived in H Town but only for 9 mos get this for 9/11 and also Enron. I'll never forget riding my bike downtown and watching former employees with long faces carrying their personal belongings out of the building in boxes.
I liked the original Mama Ninfa's plus so much barbecue, Indian, there was a gyro place, so many build your own burritos — Houston and Atlanta are awesome food towns.
Of course Austin is a nice road trip or Big Bend NP. I forgot kolaches!

Re: Things to do in Houston
My wife and I made our first trip to, and through, Texas last month. Ironically, the trip was conceived around a visit to the Rothko Chapel. Ironic because the Chapel is being renovated and won't reopen until the spring.
So our visit to Houston was conducted at around 75mph on I-10. I don't really recommend it.
We'll return when the Chapel is open. I don't know how long your staycation will last, so I can't say my post is at all helpful.
GO!
