This is how humans thrived in the ancient world. There had been numerous times we could have been wiped out, but the different cultures(world wide) knew what to eat and when to move to find more seasonal bounty. This is all before money entered the system. My girlfriend who is a horticulturist makes me try all sorts of weird stuff when we are out hiking and most of it is surprisingly good. It blows my mind that food is all around us and we work so hard to get rid of it or ignore it.
