    Default N.Y. prison break

Anyone here following this? These suckers have been on the run for awhile now.

The manhunt has turned up the volume, they shouldn't last much longer.

I'm somewhat following via Google News. Pretty movie-like stuff. Lost the trail, DNA in a cabin far away, back on the trail. Curious to see what happens.

I'm hoping they didn't make it to DBRK's place and take one of the bikes I want.

They are also close to Canada so they've got some good hydration if they find beer.

Yeah, but they might freeze in the Canadian summer. Maybe Grant will sell them a bike unknowingly and they'll become Vsalon members.

At what point do you envision Rapha using them in convicts of the road back pocket inside stories?

Word is the cops actually have no idea where they are now. The cabin was closer to the prison than the most recent reported sighting. The Adirondacks are not Central Park. They aren't even the Catskills. Someone with a lot of motivation could stay missing for a long while just by breaking into summer cabins up there and living off the can goods. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if they stay gone.

If they weren't really bad and ultimately dangerous people, I'd be pulling for them. Those guys having nothing to lose. That's not good.

They will be found but whether dead or alive is hard to tell. This is the area I grew up in, just a few miles southeast of Dannemora on Lake Champlain. I worked part time in the prison some 40 years ago as a civilian running the music program in the library off the main yard (I was about 23 years old then). Inmates came in and checked out books or cassette decks with a few tapes (remember, this was 40 years ago). There are 30 foot concrete walls encircling this whole facility. When I was there, prison population was something like 2,000 inmates. "C" block was reception for the whole state and if you came out of court anywhere in NY state, that's where you went first. Word was that it was a sort of attitude adjusting welcome aboard for them all. Son of Sam was there in "C" block but didn't come into contact with regular inmates. The only decent sized town in that area is Plattsburgh which is directly east on Lake Champlain. This is the first time that place made big news. It's a sister institution to Attica which had one of the biggest prison uprisings in the USA.

Funny how the mind works. Make no mistake these are very very bad people who have done horrible things and must be caught (and I wonder how that idiot guard would feel if she was responsible for someone's death while they're on the lam), but at times I find myself thinking the same thing, like it's something out of O Brother Where Art Thou?

    Which it certainly isn't.

Exactly. Remember that Dannemora is a maximum security institution for the worst of the worst. Every inmate in there qualifies in some way as bad and dangerous.

Yeah, I know, and I can't imagine accidentally stumbling across these guys deep in the woods as a hiker/whatever. I have no doubt whatsoever what would happen.
Let's hope whatever camps they break into are unoccupied.

My nephew is going to adventure camp up there. Pok-o-MacCready in Willsboro, NY. Leaving this weekend. His parents aren't too worried, but they'd be a lot happier if these guys were caught before the weekend.

I'm a little surprised that if they're in the area they haven't been picked up because that area's all hunting camps and you'd think somebody's trail cam would have something by now.

I read an article about how many people have escaped from state prison systems in the U.S. Not run away when they were outside the prison, actually made it from inside the prison walls. NY has these 2. Florida has over 150.

Not surprising, right? We are Florida. Here's a good twitter feed to stay abreast of all our special denizens. https://twitter.com/_FloridaMan

don't really think you would if you look up what they did to end up with life sentences.

Not that hard to dig in sand, chances are that metal pipe would have already been rusted in half due to the sea air. All you would have to do is bust out of it ala Kool Aid man. Florida is pretty much the Australia of America, convicts and all...

*read that as sarcasm. I love you guys

At first, when these two broke out, I was hoping that they were still somewhere in the sewage pipe. Then, every time someone in the system flushed the toilet a giant turd would come plowing them in the face. Would be a fitting punishment, choking on shit and all.

They had a roughly 36 hour head start, right?

Could be anywhere in the world in that amount of time.

I doubt their plan ended with escaping.

That the police are searching in the vicinity of prison is a sign they know something or they know nothing.
