I am with you Akelman. your initial post was dead on. People being responsible for what they say and its impact, in a public forum is a sign of maturity the access to any kind of society that works. I started this nonsense in the first place by publicly saying what I thought about what Jitahs said. My intention was to point out the essential ridiculousness of correlating a specific number for waist size with athleticism. And I know this from experience. I am sure I am not the only one, but I know about me, that the waist size of my skeleton with no flesh on it would be a 34. But this is not about me. I am not a world class athlete, and I have known several. Their waist size was not the factor that made them or didn't make them athletes, it was as many have so well pointed out in this thread their commitment and their willingness to have that commitment rule their lives. And though waist size may well be a sign of that commitment, it is certainly not a direct correlate.
This thread has had some valuable discussion about what is comfort and what is suffering. People have laid out what it means to them to push beyond what they know then can do until what they know they can do, expands. There has been some great conversation about a willingness to push through pain. I apologized early for sounding off the way that I did as I could see what it was going to do with the thread. I do it again. Jitas, I never meant to call you "Fucking Stupid", just your comment. The direct correlation between a specific waist size and athleticism doesn't exist. Further, to tell the members of this forum that they are not in fact athletes because their measurements don't meet your standards and they are merely going for a bike ride, while not expecting a response would be stupid. But I don't think you are stupid, Jitas, not at all. On the contrary. I think that you are malicious. You like picking fights, from the safety of anonymity, where there are no implications.
I agree with aklemanm the victim game is beneath us all
I'll take some pot stirring every now and again over mindless discussion about "what tube" or "how much does your bike weigh". Don't get me wrong, I'd love to hear how great your ride was after you discovered latex tubes, or how much better the hill climb was on a 15 lb bike than your 20 lb bike but VSalon is so much more. We need provocateurs that have wit and opinion and in the spirit of swoop take solid pulls on the front.
In my opinion, jitahs is such. If a few feathers get ruffled, so be it; honey badger don't give a shit, it just takes what it wants.
Rock on jitahs. Have a good ride. Go be a honey badger. Just finished my Sunday Volente Loop. Did it solo and I'm not sure if I was training, cycling or riding my bike. In the end, I don't care.
Swoop is Dead! Long Live Jitahs!
It seems to me that this modern customer is always right mindset has caused the bike to become the villain. I can't get up this hill because of the bike or this golfclub sucks, I can't hit it in the hole. Harden the f*ck up anybody? You get faster or better at anything by sucking and suffering and keeping at it.

Yo. I wrote 10,000 words and 75 footnotes about my lunch today. Does that mean I'm the next incarnation of David Foster Wallace?

Brother Jitahs, why do you hate skinny people?
Start slow, then taper off.
