Meteor Over CNY
And now for something completely different: a meteor broke up approximately 22 miles over my house a little after noon today. The sonic boom as it entered the upper atmosphere was strong enough to lightly shake the house. Both my daughter and I thought a tree had fallen against the house, or an explosion had taken place nearby. A quick check of the house found no damage, and we heard no sirens. Within a few minutes, friends were chatting about the incident and stories began to show up on news websites. By evening, videos were posted with sounds and sights from the meteor. Since it was snowing in SYR (shocking, I know...), we couldn’t see it. Here’s some links with video and audio.

My good friend (and fellow cyclist) shared a video of his goats reaction to the meteor: https://m.youtube.com/watch?fbclid=I...&v=TVvskqEFPCA

Re: Meteor Over CNY
I saw a shooting star a few weeks back that was so big I could see it wobble as it descended. Always incredible to see.

Re: Meteor Over CNY
That's awesome.
Funny how with the proliferation of phone cameras, GoPro, etc., we see so much more of this.
Kind of like when most Russians started running dashcams to protect themselves (and property) in the case of car accidents, etc., we started seeing crazy stuff like bears running into traffic, gas line explosions, and what not.
