    The kilogram is about to get more precise. Check out the Kibble balance at the NIST. It's baller.

    They don't talk about friction as a factor in that Kibble thingy with all sorts of moving parts. Someone send them a bottle of NFS chain lube.

    This is pretty cool. It's nice to hear that despite constant government cuts, the NRC is still at the forefront of some pretty esoteric research.

    true, but the only way to find the mass is to weigh it and then take the acceleration from gravity out of the weight.

    that was a good article. I love that metric was born of the Revolution. Not many people know the revolutionaries also threw out the old calendar and replaced it with the republican calendar. Today (11/14/18) is 24 Brumaire 227, or Foggish 24, 227, feast of the endive, before tomorrow's celebration of Dindon (Turkey, the bird)
