Anyone?
a great series again for a Boston fan.
Fun to watch and plenty of Boston fans even in the away games.

David Price I think should have gotten the MVP but they always give it to an offensive player, yeah? Too bad. He definitely "left it all on the field" as they say. He's a strange one in interviews, but it was pretty obvious that his teammates all had a lot of admiration for him. Seemed like the Dodgers had focused on shutting down Betts and Martinez, which they accomplished, but their pitching just ran out of gas. Plus Bogaerts. He is their stealth star. The 18 inning game that was supposed to be turn-around for the Dodgers actually torched them. Plus Pearce must be one of the more dangerous hitters in the AL now. We'll see I guess if this was just a timely streak or if he can continue to do this next year.
I was pretty happy for Alex Cora too.
Great series I though. Boston winning 4-1 doesn't really convey how tough a series it felt like.

I tht Price would be MVP also... I guess 2 dingers in the clinching game tipped the scale.
Entertaining series and it did feel closer.
A great time to be a Boston sports fan, no doubt.
The players are very international in MLB. Also, MLB puts on the World Baseball Classic every few years. Teams from parts of the world you wouldn’t think play baseball are competitive and Japan seems to win the whole thing pretty often. It’s an international game and even a Frenchman living in Switzerland could attempt to play for the Boston Red Sox if he wished to do so.
It’s a world game today. But the only place to get stupid rich playing it is the US.
La Cheeserie!
I don't think they'll be as successful next year if people figure out that attempting to make contact and put the ball in play is more productive than getting all excited about launch angles and exit velocity. .368 with runners on second or third, everybody else something like one-ninety, and something ridiculous like 55% of the runs coming with two outs? You need to have skills, yes, but all those guys that try to hit it 500 feet can certainly get it out of the infield with a half swing.
Anybody remember George Scott? "Gonna get me some taters"... and strike out four times.
Not to mention that Dave Roberts has to feel like he did everything according to process but came up snake eyes every single time, Cora did everything completely wrong and every wrong decision was exactly the right one. In Cora's case I don't think it was entirely luck, at least I hope not.
Funny aside to this...
My father was born in 1919. The Red Sox won the World Series a few months before he passed away. 87 years in the making.
One of my grandchildren is 2.
he has "seen" a Super Bowl Champion and now a World Series champion in less than 2 years.
Lucky he doesn't live in a deprived city like, say, New York.
Boston is currently sports town USA.
The Mets aren't going to win as long as the Wilpons run the team.
Bryce Harper is the perfect pick up for the Yankees. He's young, he has hit a ton of home runs for the Nationals, but his numbers are all going to evaporate for the next 2-3 years after he signs his next contract.
Certainly possible. He's still young but actually a veteran in the league. Burnout could well be a factor. Analytics makes sports way less fun but analytics also proves that these high-dollar, long contracts are usually a bad deal, at least as far as production. Question teams will need to address is whether or not it's worth it from a business standpoint of putting butts in seats and selling jerseys, signing TV deals, etc. He's a stadium draw in DC, that's for sure. I've been to see the Nats a few times and he's a big star there.
Personally, I'd like to see him stay in DC but who knows what they are willing to pay him.
Ultimately, it's a business decision more than a sporting decision.

I am not a baseball fan.
Not a stat guy.
I enjoyed watching some of the series.
I was amazed by how strange pitchers are.
Another breed.
Notably a real class move by the Dodgers.
They took out a full page ad in the Boston Globe congratulating the Sox.
What does a full page ad in the Globe cost nowadays? Am guessing about 4 or 5 dollars.
Class gesture for sure.
Could be a trifecta year if the Celts play to expectations and Pats pull it off again. Good time to be a Boston fan. Particularly a Boston fan living in the mid-atlantic surrounded by NY and Philly fans.
