At least Alex Cora was the bench coach for a World Series Champion. Last year. In his first managerial job. And at least Aaron Boone won't be on ESPN televised baseball games doing color commentary with his monotone voice. This will be his first managerial job. Both of these guys must give a really good interview.
Two of the top revenue producing teams in MLB with two of the biggest team budgets and they just hired two managers with very little or no managing experience. Is this unique? Seems like perhaps the NFL has dabbled in inexperienced coaching hires, but those are usually on bad teams. Does football (i.e. soccer) do this?
