Wool dress slacks/trousers
Friends,
I did a search for this, but came up empty handed. I don't doubt that this has been discussed before and my search skills are lacking. If so, I would appreciate the link.
In any case, I'm looking for suggestions for wool dress slacks that won't get blown out after a year or (maybe) a year and a half of wear. I've had to toss two pairs of dress slacks this week that have worn through in the crotch. They weren't that old. Both were from Banana Republic. Historically, I've purchased my dress clothes from BR because I know which sizes fit me and I can order them online. I usually feel as if I have become dumber if I go to a mall to go shopping for clothes (but that's a different topic altogether).
Back on topic, I'm looking for a few pairs of wool dress trousers that will hold up reasonably well. I will wear them to work, and take them off when I get home. I never wear a suit to work, so I don't need suits. FWIW, I am a university hospital based psychologist, so I don't need anything flashy. Grays, browns, navy-blues, etc are the colors I wear most often.
Thank you.

Re: Wool dress slacks/trousers
I think there's still a physical Brooks Brothers store in the skyway in downtown Minneapolis. That saves you from the mall, but you still have to go downtown. I've had good luck with their pants.
Alternatively, go to Heimie's in downtown St. Paul on a weekend when there's usually street parking. I'm not sure exactly what brands they're carrying, but I'm sure they're good.

Re: Wool dress slacks/trousers
Been wearing Zanella wool (couple cashmere for real cold days) since my employer went corporate casual in the early aughts. Couple pair more than 10 years old still in good shape.

As a follow-up to this thread . . .
. . . I went to a Nordstrom store in a local mall. I purchased a few pairs of Ted Baker wool slacks. So far, I like 'em. I'll have to report back on durability. I've only worn them once each so far.
Thanks, all, for the input.

Take them to a tailor and get them lined. It's the only way. Added plus is the crease stays creased longer.

Re: Wool dress slacks/trousers
I wear Brooks Brothers, Paul Stuart, O'Connells, Incotex, and Land's End. I'm going to blaspheme and say that Land's End wool slacks are as good as the rest at a 60+% discount.
