    Default Oxygen/Acetylene cylinder colors

Working on a illustration idea I've had in my head and wanted to be somewhat correct in representing tank colors. As far as common framebuilder gas torch setups, what's the standard? If any? These will be of vintage distress by the time I'm done rendering - but would rather go green/gray than green/red.

    Thanks!

Oxyacetylene tanks vary in color. The oxygen tanks are green but that green tone can vary. I think it depends on what kind of paint they have in stock. Acetylene tanks can be either red or black. I have one of each. The red isn't a fire truck engine red but usually has brown tones in it. If you Google oxyacetylene outfits you will see all kinds of tank colors.

I don't use my oxyacetylene setup much anymore. I use a BBQ tank for fuel and an oxygen concentrator for oxygen. Those are the machines that old people use to breath when can't do that well on their own anymore.

FWIW, they are usually black, but I've had a number of grey acetylene tanks over the years.

Perfect. My Dad's were so rusted and/or w/multi-paint-patina that I couldn't determine. Thanks to all for your time! Cheers
