Default March is Now Officially My Cruelest Month

I cannot get through March without getting walloped by some illness. This last week I got body-slammed by some flu or virus or whatever. Everything hurt and I was either sweating or dreaming about bizarro adventures in the land of Salvador Dali. I had a little cold last weekend, but didn't feel horrible. Basically went about my usual business. Then wham!

Every year this happens! WTF? I wasn't exactly religious with my riding schedule, but I was doing okay. Then a trip, some visitors, and oh well.

In the old days, I used to get some lung thing around about Dec./Jan. Now each March, I get a "flu" each with its own particular smorgasbord of symptoms.

I feel sorry for teachers and parents who go through this all the time. After this last week, it is pretty easy for me to see how the human race is going to disappear from the planet one day.

Since I'm finally getting a bit better, but have basically been since before new years, I was going to say winter is the cruelest season and leave it at.

Where is the blanking global warming us liberals are complaining about? If we gotta take the bad bits let it at least be warm...

    Hope you feel better soon!

Thanks. Now my wife has it. Glad to hear you are shedding yours.

I think warmer winters are like climatic Petri dishes. Mold spores and whatever other lung irritants from thermal inversions outside set your body up and then one tiny microbe comes along and you are meat.

I made it through winter perfectly healthy. Not even a sniffle.
    Now I have the plague.

I used to think I had it bad, as I'm sitting directly across from a variety of people all day long, but really it's only 7-8 folks per day. That's nothing compared to some people... for instance, my brother and his wife, who:

    - Live in Brooklyn (Park Slope, the baby/infant capital of the world)
    - use the subway multiple times on a daily basis
    - Have a four year old who just started preschool. His nose is always running some type of abominable green goo.
    - Have a 15 month old as well.

Basically, they're sick all the time. There's no letup. He describes it as his new normal. I can't imagine being a grade-school or kindergarten teacher.

    yeeeeuck.

Two weeks ago I was on a plane from SF with two very cute little kids - a baby and a toddler - who were very well behaved and their mother. But I think whatever I got came from them. I have no immunities to children at all I think. These kids weren't even sick. They were just slightly food covered slightly sweaty a little drool-y normal little kids. New parents always seem very worried about not getting their kid sick, and I think hey that kid is solid germ warfare materials. Protect yourself, not the other way around!

The discovery for us this time around is Breathe-Right strips. Not outside in public, but at home put on a strip and it is amazing how much that helps with nasal congestion. And sleeping. Recommended.

I use them too. They work great! It really helps at night when the decongestants can keep me awake.

If you can't sleep because of the cough, place an onion half in your room (the closer to you the better) It stinks, sure, but works like a charm.

Love it. Might just do it to see what happens. My wife will likely throw me out of the room though.
