    Default Scuba Trips

I could not find a thread on scuba, so I thought that I would start one.

Scuba has become a fourth hobby, along with cycling, yoga and wine.

It is also one activity that my entire family can agree on doing.

The Dropbox link below, will take you to a sample of pictures and videos from my December 2015 Cozumel trip with my wife and youngest son.

One video is of an Spotted Eagle Ray swimming within 20 feet of me. They are an incredible beautiful and graceful animal.

Great hobby. My wife got us into scuba diving and it served as the basis of many of our trips until we had kids. Now we are waiting for the kids to get big enough to go themselves.

So far we've been to Cozumel, Egypt, Thailand, Costa Rica, and Honduras. We tried diving in Monterey, CA but that's just too cold!

I got certified in Monterey and did my first diving trip in Palau. Ever since I've also dived in Hawaii, the Caribbeans, and Australia, but they all pale in comparison to Palau. That's what happens when you start at the top and can only go down :) One place I found incredible is jellyfish lake, where you swim and snorkel with thousands of jellyfish that have over time lost their ability to sting due to lack of predators.

Here's a photo of me and a friend in Australia a few years ago:

This intrepid person reckons diving under the antarctic sea ice is worthy of inclusion on the Science Bucket List

My second addiction. Certified as Dive Master. My son worked for a year as instructor/guide on the Big Island. Still struggling to be a regular diver here in Seattle. Cold, murky, drysuit, double redundant gear - its a bit of a chore!
