Uh oh... now I'm going to have to go find some. The only beer like that I've had was this:

which is 32%. It was not exactly a pleasant experience. It was like hops and malt extract with extra alcohol burn. But damn if these types of beers don't always pique my interest.

I had never heard of this. amazing. No idea that beer could be aged this long. It's interesting that it can't be sold in 13 states because it's beer and has too much alcohol.

I've got a few bottles of 97 SA triple Bock here. I'll probably unload them on the net. That swill isn't worth drinking but people pay stupid money.

I picked some of that up with my ex many years ago. We decided to splurge for a special occasion and I'd heard rave reviews. Neither of us wanted to admit we didn't like it after spending so much, but after about half a bottle I just couldn't pretend any longer. She was relieved when I let her off the hook for finishing and we had quite the laugh-cry when pouring out the rest.

Is it really beer? These things are made by freeze concentration post fermentation. I suppose it's no better or worse than the water dilution post fermentation that the big brewers use, but I still don't think it counts as real beer.

PS I work with someone who made that beer at Brewdog.

I hear ya... it's not really beer.

But it's also clearly not the same thing as the "whiskey" I have here distilled from Racer 5 IPA. The TNP is decidedly more beer like.

I'm just a sucker for science projects.

At a beer fest I went to, Sam Adams brought a whole keg of utopia. I think it was around 15,000$ worth of beer.

I haven't ever had a beer with that kind of alcohol, so who knows, I might like it.

But a while back I got a very expensive, very high-proof rye at a local restaurant. All I could really say for it is that, for something that strong, it was smooth.

I prefer a better balance of taste and fire. My favorite, Michter's, sits at 85 proof.
    GO!
