Default Low Rider rack braze-on location.

    hello,

I'm currently building a fork for a client that has asked for low rider braze ons on his fork.

but does not currently know what rack he is going to use, I was wondering what most people would do for placement of these.

how far up from the axle most people would braze these into the fork blades.

    Thank you,

    Peter Redford

It's rack dependent atmo. I would advise against using a target number without the rack there as a go/no go gauge.

Some low rider racks have a fair amount of adjustability, the Tubus Tara comes to mind. Others don't. Also be concerned about drop out eyelet clearance WRT the blade and the rack brace. If the rack has an over the tire bracing loop consider adding an eyelet above the drop out, can make accessing the axle's QR far easier sometimes.

I just measured the two bikes downstairs that have low rider mounts on them. The Trek has 168mm between the drop out eye and the blade mount. My tourer has 190mm between them. Andy.

A true statement but given that a common default is 16.5cm from the center of the lower eyelet.
