    Default Another lug modification ...

    bonjour All
my next personal frame will be a road bike with a 5° or 6° sloping top tube. I want to use a seat lug with holes for seat stays insertion (i think its made by Long Shen). The problem is those lug are only available for an horizontal TT, ie 73.5°, and the design I'll target will require a 77.5° lug.
So to paraphrase Monsieur Sachs, let's show this lug who's the boss !!

I used the Dremel to cut a groove in the lug. Once done, it is very easy to open it up to the required angle.

The gap left is then filled with a slice of thick tubing.

Next step is to bronze braze the lug with its slice of tubing. A perfect work can only be done with the dedicated Magic Bike Glasses !

and finally filet filing. Before on the left, after on the right. Et voila...

    Have a good one

Excellent sharing. I've not yet had to do this to a lug but have thought a lot about it. Thanks, Andy.

Thanks for showing this, might be handy when I try and build that lugged 29er I've been thinking about.

I'm struggling to see how it wouldn't be easier and more aesthetically pleasing to make your own. I have to make some lugs/bilam for my next mountain bike, and there isn't a snowballs chance in hell that I could modify something off the shelf. Just curious how you intend to go about it.

Excellent work. Looks like I'm going back to the drawing board today, after settling on a design only yesterday with the same constraints which gives little room for the family jewels due to short legs

    Thanks for sharing.
