Hi,
Is anybody using BB386 shells? If so, are you making them yourselves, or are they available off the shelf?
Cheers,
Lawrence

Do they realize the irony in this statement?
"There have always been many standards of BB in the market. Those of us old enough will remember French threading, Swiss threading, as well as English and Italian. The Bike market follows trends that continue innovation. As opportunities arise to really improve performance, or adaptability, we believe the industry will adopt them, provided they make sense. Thanks to this new standard, cross platform adaptability, lighter weight, and increased BB surface area can now be had with one system."

No irony meant at all; I'm simply curious as to the take up of this particular 'standard' amongst custom/low volume builders, as the use of press fit systems does appear to be increasing in this sector of the market. Putting aside the real world experience and concerns of some, I like the concept and (perhaps superficial) simplicity of the various press fit systems.
The debate surrounding the pros and cons of all the solutions will no doubt continue for some time to come. But I didn't intend to spark another run through, only to find out what those who are using press fit are doing!
Nonetheless, thanks for the reality check![]()

It amazes me how well marketing guys can make a change (whose main benefit is reduction of cost in large volume manufacturers) into a must have improvement.
These marketing guys are pissing on your back and telling you its raining.

Ah! I do remember all those bloody Fisher PF bearings being put with no f**king grease at all! What a pain!!

Well, all the rust and moisture had to have somewhere to go, and it always went down.
Some of the removals on those old MTB's were truly epic.
Breaking hammer handles and shit.
Somebody, and I think it was WTB/Cunningham had the foresight so do sealed press fit but with tiny zircs on the top of the BB shell - genius.

I wonder why in the evolution of bottom brackets no one ever used something like a headset with press in cups. Or did someone and I have simply never seen such a thing?

So just to clarify, do we like press fit here??...
