    Default The Rapha of weed?

Reading this I couldn't help but see some parallels to Rapha. Taking a fringe activity and making it fashionable by marketing a lifestyle, to some degree. My gut says they are a few years too early, but I'm usually wrong about these things. I say good luck to them.

His biggest problem is getting steam rolled by established brands if/when legalization happens in force. There's a huge market for what he's doing and although he's early to the party I could see everybody from LV to Gucci competing for the pie he's creating today.

Funny, some of you know I am in the agricultural game. Last year I got an email via my linkedin account from an alleged pot grower asking me to identify what was happening to his plants and how to stop it up in Northern CA. Apparently there was a red mite outbreak and the growers were spraying all kinds of stuff, decon and high rates of agri-mek, to protect their crop. It made me question the medical use of the product when it is tainted with off labeled pesticides. I am surpised people are not getting sick.

There's a lot of money waiting to be made in an emerging market of stupid rubbish though. I guess that was the part that interested me about the article and the start-up. I don't pass any judgement on those who enjoy it, since that demographic includes people from all walks of life.

There's a lot of money ot be made in all sort of things that can make amusement. Doesn't mean they are all good.

To me, smoking is a pretty bad amusement as it leads people to be constantly with fog in their brain. Whatever makes them happy and plugs thier lungs. And I mean THEIR lungs, not mine, thanks.

I would guesstimate that at least half of all goods sold are either useless, stupid or both; and could be categorized as products that do not help people to improve their bodies/minds nor enable them increase their contribution to society. So I'm not sure of the significance of your point. Joostx's point above about pesticides is the greatest health concern, and it's a result of being an unregulated consumable product.

anyway, didn't want to get into a general weed debate here. Thought the high-brow pot accessory line was funny though.

Well I do like beer. Belgian beers and so on.
It is legal, does not enslave anyone, and does not give me cravings to wake up 6am and go to the shop like if was to buy fag papers and tobacco.

There's lots of bad things out there, and smoking is a pretty addictive one. and smoking weed is also illegal.
    I'd say that's well enough.

Joe Friday was a fictional character in the American TV show Dragnet from the 1960's. It was a crime/drama series with a strong Reefer Madness overtone. It appears that you share many of his (Joe Friday's) ideas.

    Shall I explain "Reefer Madness"?

I'm also in the agriculture field, and this is an interesting issue for our industry. On one hand we have an extremely management intensive, high value crop and growers who in many areas are desperate for real solutions and knowledge, and on the other hand an industry that has traditionally been averse to large changes and aligned politically more towards conservationism. I believe that there is a tremendous need for a business to serve this market and do so legally, advocating for EPA registered uses for crop protection chemicals used at safe rates on marijuana, educated and sustainable fertilizer use, and alternative, organic solutions for growers who wish to go that route.

I think it will be profitable for the agronomists, the growers, and lead to a safer, better product for the consumer.

According to WHO data approximately 3.5% (245 million people) of the world's population has some sort of alcohol use disorder. About 10% drink to a level that puts their mental/physical health at serious risk. Hell, I bet you could start throwing rocks and hit a couple VSalonistas who do or have struggled with this (don't throw rocks, it's against forum policy and is bad form in general).

Agreed, the "weed should be illegal, but beer and tobacco are cool" logic has no, um, logic. FYI I don't smoke or drink.

I just noticed, FWIW, that what I was looking at was data from 2011. Granted I don't think it's likely to have changed much, but it's nice to be clear.
