Anyway - when you clean the inside of a .9mm x 38mm DT with a rod & a rag don't slip & shove the wall of the tube all the way under your nail until the flesh & the quick final stop it - Ow, Ow!

Also, watch out for metal shards - had three removed from my eyes, and that's even using a full face shield, they hide in your hair, and stick to your forehead = rust circles - Ouch!

Take care of your fingers, watch out for hyperextensions and arthritis!

Caught a bit of the jacket and it all balled up in the saw and barely ground it to a halt just nicking my arm until my family arrived to hit to stop button which I've since moved closer, hell of a close call.

Yikes! "Been there, done that" comes to mind. I need to start documenting all of my f'ups! With all of the jumping up and down, swearing, running for a bandaide, wining (crying?)to whomever will listen, etc I never think to take a photo.:-) Word of warning...don't let your torch hoses get twisted so that a loosened grip allows it rotate right across your face!

Super scary "red spot" photos are freaky.

I've been lucky (ie- careful). The stuff that really hurts precludes casual documentation (like having the ladder slide out while I was 9' up- don't do that).

+1 on being careful, that, along with good safety gear saves the day 99.8% of the time. When you do this day in and day out though, you're bound to get tagged a little once in a while.

PS: I broke my tail bone...and the ladder where I feel on it...that exact same way several years ago.....worn ladder pads on a varnished deck. Lesson learned.

oofph- concrete with broken feet for me (don't lend ladders). Managed to ride it down and get my fingers and toes on the outside of the rails, but landing on all fours jacked up most of my joints.

I try to think through the physics of what I'm about to do before I hit the start button. Been to the er more than once for a metal shard in the eye, how does that happen when you are wearing goggles?

Yep, been to the ER for metal in the eye. Once working under a rusty car, the other cutting/grinding tubes. Fortunately, we have a 24 hour ER Eye hospital up in Philly. I hate saying "Yes" to the "Have you done this before?".

The most recent oooops I was fillet brazing a frame and went to swivel it into a better angle and the clamp let go. I instinctively caught the frame with both hands......torch still in hand and aiming at the other hand. Flambe'd my finger.

Some of this looks familiar, and I've learned my lesson in many cases. For some reason there's one tool that always gets me.

The Park headset press. Over the years the sliding/QR side of the press has bitten the webbing between the thumb/fore finger on my left hand more than times than I can remember.

On the bright side, the series of chainring scars mean I always have a ruler with 1/2" markings with me.

Damn!
Bad sunburn or 3rd degree burn!?!?!

I only got one A/O burn, the hose swiveled like you say and I burned my L forearm BAD - it just glossed over, and didn't hurt, which is a bad sign.......3-4 days later, it cracks and bleeds.....and hurts BAD - about a 5" x 1.5" strip.

Never Again.

I threw that damn thing away & made a big sweet "wing nut" for it - much better tension adjustment as well.
