I have cycled in the area of the Nürburgring and it is spectacular riding. Too bad the course can't be used for F1. It would be the best race of the year.

I went around (not driving, as a passenger) in probably 8:40-8:45 once with my co-worker on an industry day back in 2006. Sub 7 is beyond my stones.

That place is SO cool. You can feel the ghosts.

I've raced there (motorcycle) and it's exhausting to learn,very cool track though just so many corners!
I don't remember my times,I'll try and find them,I was on an MV Agusta 175cc so not that fast in the straights just light enough to not lose anything in the corners.
