Boron Fibre tape shipping
This is a request for help. I'm about to purchase a quantity of boron fibre prepreg tape from SMI.
They will only ship by refrigerated transport and the cost to do that all the way here is simply insane. When I got the previous tape I had it drop shipped stateside and then posted to me.
I'm looking for someone willing to do that for me. I pay all shipping costs and take all responsibility if it goes tits up. Ideally you've been wanting to try boron fibre, we can work something out.
Mods: if this should be in classifieds, I'll move it.

Prepreg it yourself its not insane that way, im confused why people seem to think prepreg is "the" option

Re: Boron Fibre tape shipping
SMI are the only source for boron fibre and they only do dry fabric to special order. Given that their min order for prepreg is 100 feet and thus $2200, I hate to think what their minimum for dry fabric is.
I make my own "prepreg" for all the other materials I use - of course I have to for the wood laminae, there's no commercial source for them.

Mark i would ask them i have had stuff from SMI in 25m in fact i still have around 24m of it as it was banned in F1 pretty quickly
Thatsounds completely backwards ffom them supplying us in the Uk i would ask if their min prepreg is 100ft for prepregging

Can you elaborate on the F1 thing. Don't mean to derail the thread but am curious.

Re: Boron Fibre tape shipping
The story I heard is that boron is so expensive (roughly six times the price of carbon) that it was felt that allowing its use contributed to the imbalance between the richest teams and the rest, so now only crazy people like me use it.
To Mike; yeah, I've never actually asked, but then there's not much distance* between 25m and 100 ft.
* 5480 mm to be precise.
