Tree pollen is KILLING me this year. My sinuses are swollen shut, two Vicodin and my head is still aching. I cant open both eyes at the same time.

Just filled a 'scrip for a 10 day cycle of Augmentin and 7 days of prednisone. Stuffing my face with baked goods and drinking gobs of sugary juices. This is not the Ballers training I had planned for this week.

    Friggin' trees.

Steve have you ever used a neti pot to rinse your sinuses? It helps a lot to flush all that pollen out. My allergy flare ups would usually turn into a full blown sinus, then ear infection once or twice a year, but using the neti pot has cut out the infections and lessens the severity of the symptoms too.

    Oh, it comes out.
    In copious quantities.
I don't like the water up your nose thing......
It's the feeling like you have the .5 flu going on all day that drags me down.

I use a neti pot daily. Never been diagnosed with any allergies but am beginning to think that getting crazy sinus infections on roughly August 25 every year (and less severe sinus stuff once or twice during the rest of the year) probably means I'm allergic to something. Unfortunately the neti pot has only lessened the amount of time I spend knocked out. My doc said whatever I'm allergic to is pretty common and won't refer me to an allergist.

Top 3 Cities in America for allergies: Knoxville #1, Chattanooga #3. I live between them both. My allergies dont effect my sinuses as much, as they effect my joints. The soreness is like you just did the most manual of labor, and used muscles you didnt know you have.

This shit puts me in a bad mood. Once i get on top of it, i am usually good to go. I still wake up every morning with my eyes glued shut from seapage. I feel like its Groundhog Day. I wake up, and feel like i have gone blind, every morning. Only to realize my peepers are stuck.

What is the science behind this?
    An immune response?
I have just figured it was overuse.

    I'm not normal.
I had my gallbladder out last year & waltzed out with zero painkillers.
They wanted to hold me but I told them I'd crawl out.
"You are going to be in serious pain" they said.......
"If I'm not I'll go to work" I said, which is true.

If I complain people take it seriously.

I never thought about it, thanks for pointing that out - it's just how I am.

Sorry for the redundancy, but the industries quashes all evidence to the contrary of what i'm about to state. And i know plenty of yous has heard me say it before, but for maybe to help one more person:

When i stopped drinking cow milk on a daily basis

ALL of my sinus/allergy problems stopped. I had been to numerous doctors and ER's and on various Rx and OTC every day for years.

    No More.

Now i can bushhog until the tractor is solid yellow from pollen (like a bees legs) and only have a little itchy burningness about the eyes-a sneezer here or there. That's it.

it's a better life, and it's not a teetotal type thing. I still has cheese or ice cream when i want to. If i has a lot, then i might get a little stuffy.

of course a body that has been through the traumas of Steve, may has all sorts of other issues compounding/complexing the prob.

HTH somebuddy. Protein and Calcium come from DOZENS of betterer and cleaner sources than cow milk, don't believe the industrial hype.

The thought of drinking a glass of milk is really gross......

I haven't had a glass of milk in 36 years -- always hated the stuff. Anyway, I have a new problem. My body is having a photo-toxic reaction to the Augmentin the Dr prescribed to kill the sinus infection. Basically, I'm getting a sunburn through my clothes because my body isn't blocking UVs.

I friggin hate meds as much as I hate oak pollen. Well, some meds. I'm digging the vicodin and prednisone.

you'd be surprised how many medications have a precautionary "avoid direct sunlight" attached to them.

I took some and had a nice 1/2 of my body and face sunburn from mountain biking along the ridge trail. The shaded side had no burns, so I looked like a Batman villain for a couple of days.

Whoa, Garro.. You asking a Tennessean about science? Might i refer you to the Scopes Monkey Trial, we don't take kindly to science around here.. I put my hands at the altar of blind faith and the fortune cookie.

Seriously, i dont know about the science of joint inflammation in regards to allergies. But, i can promise this. Come tax day, i am going to be sore for 3 days. I would set my calendar to it, and take whatever odds SteveP is giving that i am correct.

Truly not sure. I need to do some sort of research.
