I discovered this type of buse just before Christmas, first tests are very impressives I can have the electrode 2 cms out of the buse without problems... I will try on the seatstay and chainstay weldings next week.
What kind of buses do you have and do you know this ?

    Sebastien,

I have one of those on my tig torch. In the US, they call it a gas lense. From inspection, it appears to be screens separated by spacers. An inexpensive upgrade.

Absolute waste of money IMO. They kits are $35-75 depending on where you get them. The replacement pyrex cups are $25+ on their own. Theres no benefit that I have found over a standard gas lens. If you are doing any welding on anything that may pop or sputter the pyrex cup will get ruined, or touch the cup to hot metal it will melt.

For $8-10 you can get a standard gas lens and a number 8 cup, and still extend the tungsten over an inch if needed. If you drop the torch and break the cup, they are about $1.50 for a new one.

Rody has a great you tube video on how to make your own using already available products. Well worth a look. I'm computer illiterate otherwise I would post a link, maybe someone could help out, otherwise check out Rody's archives in his blog.

Yes, good point. I missed the part about the transparent pyrex cup in Sebastien's post. I use a standard gas lense and cup as you suggest.
