    Default Mulling Wine or Cider

'tis the season and I absolutely love them both. The smell is intoxicating, and they seem to warm you to the soul. I'd love to try some VSers take on either, whatcha got?

I never really enjoyed mulled wine or cider. Every time I'd tried mulled wine it was overly spiced or overly alcoholic. Ciders I've tried were also overly spiced or too sweet.

However, all that changed when I was given someone's home brew (mulled wine) as a gift. I accepted it with a grateful smile but inwardly was kinda like "what am i gonna do with this." I tried it on a whim as I was wrapping last years Xmas gifts. Ok.. I changed my mind. The result was balanced. Nicely spiced with warm, mellow wine throughout. I was hooked and wanted more. I haven't been able to get the recipe outta the person so this year I scoured the Net for recipes. I tried Jamie Oliver's and it was pretty good. I adjusted it for less sugar though.

Not quite satisfied so definitely looking to the gourmets of VS to chime in. Thanks for the thread! I eagerly await the brew recipes of this crew.
