Default Diana Nyad - The Cuba Swim

Diana Nyad was attempting to swim from Cuba to Florida but she was pulled from the water earlier today. It looks like she swam just shy of half way between Havana and Key West.

I respect her courage. I wonder if she had to fly to Mexico to hop down to Cuba?

I am in awe of anybody who can do open water epics like this. She is hors categorie for her persistence and grit. 4th try. I wouldn't bet against her eventually making it.

I didn't realize this was her fourth attempt. How many miles is that?

I dog-paddled a mile once boy was it far

Here are some of here palmares
Diana Nyad - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Here first try was thirty years ago. 76 miles before she had to give up. At age 30 she set record for longest "competitive" swim (M&F) over open water 102 miles from North Bimini Island, Bahamas, to Juno Beach, Florida.

Cripes. I'm at risk of drowning in my own spit most days.

I guess she is wearing a body suit this time around to help with the jelly fish stings. Sounds like she needed some kind of cover for her face as well given the number of times she was stung. You face a lot of things when long-distance cycling, but thank goodness regular stings by jellyfish are not one of them.

Who wouldn't scream out loud in support for her accomplishment? One of the coolest aspects is that she never doubted and returned until the job was done.
    We love her.

That'll be me in 14 years.

    Minus the swimming part.
