    Default Too many pears

A family friend sent a large crate of very nice pears. I can only eat so many.
    Talk to me.
I'm thinking about canning them in simple syrup, clove, cinnamon stick.

A local NY organic juice place called Organic Avenue sells pressed pear juice, which I had never tried, and it is insanely good. Try juicing some, drink it straight up.

I can confirm pear juice is the cat's pajamas. Had a holistic, vegan, rawfood chef for a guitar player. Would bring a juicer with him on the road. Nothing like the sound of a juicer at 6am when you're on 2 hours sleep and hungover from the gig the night before.

I'm a good 276.23 miles from moonshine. Roadtrip? I like where you are going with it however. Eat the pears, drink the remains? Woodford seems a bit over the top. Suggestions?

Juicing, right on. That's going to happen.

Btw, you've got to fix the title. When I first read it, I was wondering, wtf are "Too Man Pears"? Does he mean "Two Man Pairs"? or "Two Man Pears" (some kind of giant pear)?

Another great thing to make with pears is a pear tarte tatin, or pear galettes. Perfect for the holidays (or any time, frankly).

Hmmm, I've got lots of frozen puff pastry. Good call.
I see a visit to the liquor store and stop and pop for cans today.

In all seriousness, i'd submerge the pears in some top drawer Vodka (not going to name names.. pick your poison) and some real vanilla beans maybe a clove and/or cinnamon stick. Happy Holidays!
eating the pear may be a an adventure. but the remains..OMGolly

I'm hip to the water bath method and appreciate that you, the pro, is not a NANNY about pressure canning. Excellent, thank you.

If you don't want to buy top shelf, get the low shelf swill and run it through a brita pitcher a few times. The activated charcoal in the filter will catch a lot of the harsh out of the cheap stuff.

How about donating some to your local food pantry. There are lots of hungry families out there.
