I haven't seen this before...interesting.
How would you put it to use? 38mm I.D. Is that old 1.25" headset size? Are there reamers kicking around? (I admit that I'm not up on what steel tubes out there would act as a head tube) - strike that, but the next ti tube size up would be 1.625 and would require a bunch of machine work to get something workable.
What's the benefit from a builder or consumer standpoint?

Hi,
the benefit is a nice connection between 38 mm down tube and 40 mm head tube. 40x1 mm steel-tubes should be easy to find. I miss also a reamer.

what ulrich said, pretty sure King has reamers for this
steel HT stock is easy to find, titanium not so much

Does anybody knows if there's any plan for a cheaper alternative from CaneCreek, FSA, etc... ?

no there isn't. it's king/Dario. it makes the mitre angles more bettah- we'll probably use it on our inox. but it ain't ready for prime time just yet- king will make reamers- as will any machine shop for a pack of kools and Benjamin.

Speaking of this...
Enve has 1.25" tapered forks available and CaneCreek(and probabally King) has headsets to boot.
This amuses me. It also validates my decisions to hang on to my 1.25" reamer and 1.25" steel headtube stock.
Thanks for bringing this up guys. Time to go be different for the sake of being different!

Columbus have both of the head tube on stock, low alloy and xcr.
