Spitzer is a jerk to his wife, and a hero to me. No real contradiction, IMO.

The damage he did to society with his whoring around was ... almost zero. The damage done to society by the financial fraudsters he tried to take down -- literally in the trillions if he had gotten to them all. I'm most bothered that the American lower classes are so trained to (a) bend over backward to make excuses for the wealthy (b) fight each other over the scraps and (c) condemn anyone trying to work on their behalf if said person isn't perfect. Methinks there is a class war and we are beating ourselves while the wealthiest laugh at us.

Mr. Spitzer came to speak at my college last spring and I was thoroughly impressed. The man is brilliant and perhaps could do good service in a non-elected role. He will be back in one way shape or form (beyond cnn, that is). His insights about the financial collapse, although too complicated for me to attempt repeating, were very interesting. He had the room wrapped around his finger and then he dropped this bombshell: He feels that the SC "got it right" with the Citizens United case. (wtf!?) Not a popular position with a bunch of liberal college kids, but hey, at least he's not shy.
