The kid's visiting, and we wandered over to the local farmers market with her. Immediately ran into one of her best friends from hs & college, along with another college friend visiting from Oregon. Instant reunion!

Plus I bought a growler from Sam Adams next door for dinner later.

I just saw the Oberlin reference...our daughter is an Obie as she graduated last year. Oberlin seemed like it was tailor made for her and she took advantage of the unique environment there and enjoyed every minute of it. She was also well prepared in continuing her studies and there is network of Obies out there always prepared to help. Send me a PM if you need any tips on dining, lodging, beer and coffee, as I have hit them all over the past four years. There's a great bike store in town that knows how to deal with "college kid bikes" too and some nice riding in the Ohio countryside.

So there was this yesterday: https://www.velocipedesalon.com/foru...tml#post853206

I called my insurance agent. He was sympathetic and immediately confirmed that our policy covers glass without a deductible. He transferred me right to my insurance company's dedicated "glass break" 800 number, where their agent opened a case, gave me the names & numbers of a couple glass companies close to my wife's school, and gave me a number to call back if we encountered any problems. We didn't. Half an hour later my wife had made an appointment to get the glass fixed.

And one of her colleagues offered up her garage for the car, since the glass needs to be ordered for a Monday appointment.

Helpful professionals and a generous colleague. Happy Friday!

IMG_2659.jpgIMG_2659.jpgMy 17 year old grandson is spending a few weeks with us. He is a great kid. He asked me if I thought we could make my old Lemond work for him so he could ride with me. New tires, simple green and dish soap later the old bike looked pretty decent. 20 miles riding side by side talking about everything and nothing later we both agreed it was time for BBQ.

Back to back Fridays. I used to live paycheck to sometimes 2 days before paycheck and was what I liked to say "financially challenged". Somewhere along the road I got my shit together. This is leading up to telling you that I don't check my bank balance on payday to make sure the check hit. I looked yesterday and saw a much larger amount. Five minutes later my boss calls to tell me the last job closed out and the owner sent a glowing report so there was some "extra" coming my way.

If you need a Mike Z teaser to "get you through" a European vacation, you're doing it wrong! No knock on Mike Z who is always welcomed to send me teasers. Even if they're for someone else's bike.

Yeah, I said that inelegantly. I don't need it to get me through the vacation; it does help me until I leave tomorrow though. That and just seeing the bike in its almost finished guise brings a smile to my face. More like, the tease will scratch my bike itch until I get back since Lionel is out of the country when I am in Aix.

I'm just giving you shit because, well, because it's all in good fun. Honestly, if Mike sent me a teaser shot I'd want to rush home to get my hands on the real deal. Enjoy it...I love me some white Zank bikes.

Mike's drawings for my bike got to me as I arrived in Tel Aviv.

Murphy's post brought back a good memory.

On my way home from Arizona. I spent 8 wonderful days motor rafting through the Grand Canyon. While I was on the river, my road bike was in Garro's shop in Flagstaff. Speaking of Garro, he's brazing up my new bike probably right now.

Our middle kid (oldest son) took his OAT (Optometry Admission Test) last weekend as this being his senior year at college, he's preparing to apply to optometry schools in the Fall. The kid has been really busting his arse for the past 3-4 months, almost in a monastic way, in preparation for the exam and he KO'd it. Needless to say he's flying high right now but he knows that this is just a step in the process, albeit a large step. Keep your collective fingers crossed and I will certainly keep you posted.

I'm having lunch with my daughter today. She & her BF flew into town last night, and stayed at his mom's before all of them head north for a long weekend boating off Portland. So my wife & I get a 90 minute lunch. Which is more than fine, really - we didn't think we'd see "the kids" at all this go-around.

I'm still getting used to having an adult child. But it's kinda cool.

The Boy's class standings went from #12 to #10 so he's an honor grad as long as he maintains his GPA. He's putting in the effort so he'll get an appointment to the Naval Academy or West Point.

And my new Coconino is closer to completion and a trip to Spectrum.

The re-carpeting was finished the first part of the week and new furniture comes in Saturday. We've been in this house for 20 years so 'bout damned time!

I'm currently getting my house ready to put on the market... 10 years of put-off projects in a compact time. Fortunately my wife has come to the realization that her hard deadline isn't going to happen (I've been pointing this out for the last month, but what can you do).

As an adult child, I'm still getting used to it on my end. But it's kinda cool. Turns out my parents are interesting people. Who knew?!

The legs are coming around, so that's cool.
