I keep saving some Sierra Nevada Bigfoot. We did a vertical tasting of them last year on a brew day starting with the 2007 I believe. Not terribly old, but neat to try them all and see the differences.

Had a buddy in the midwest send me some Pere Jacques. American take on a Belgian beer. Tasty.
I'll drink pretty much any of the Belgian beers, but St Bernardus ABT 12 is my favorite.
If you're in the South Bay (SF area) stop in to Farmhouse in Gilroy. They make a great Saison.

Bigfoot is a great one to age. A guy here in Portland does a vertical tasting of kegs of Celebration Ale every year. I keep meaning to go but it never happens.
I have a small-sized beer cellar, started in with a bottle of Thomas Hardy's Ale, 1994, I believe. Lot's of Bell's - Batch 1500 through Batch 7000. Several Imperial Porters and stouts - runs of the last 8 years or so. I have many bottles that I now know were not meant to be aged and certainly taste like shit, but I'll get around to tasting them sometime. Oh, and a few bottles of scotch, too. Not much left in those, but they are interesting.

Back to Belgian's
One of my favorite bloggers - bike-related or otherwise - is Jeff Alworth at Beervana. He knows his stuff, he is modestly self-deprecating and subtly quite funny. This summer, he took a much anticipated trip to Belgium, and his latest post about it came this week. Be sure to go back into his blog for a lot of stuff about his trip.

Note for the search engine . . . just discovered a Vietnamese restaurant in Richmond VA that has tons of Belgian beers. Great food and really great beer. Just incredible. The name is Mekong, located on West Broad.

Re: Belgian Beers
Quads for me. In the cellar currently:
- Westvleteren 12
- Rochefort 8
- Chimay Grande Reserve
- Achel Extra
- Koningshoeven Quadrupel
- St. Bernardus Abt12
- Unibroue 17 Grande Reserve
The best North American products I've had in this style are the Unibroue 17 mentioned above and Boulevard Brewing Co's The Sixth Glass Quadrupel.

Re: Belgian Beers
Ommegang has been brought up a few times, but I'll throw out a vote for the Rare Vos as my go-to from them. Maredsous as well, the 8. I've yet to have any style from St. Bernardus disappoint. De Koninck is fabulous stuff as well, though not of the "dark heavy" ilk.

But "only one"? Nah, I am loving many. This is allot like my sex life. I have trouble settling down, no matter how fine the choices. Guess I am a bit of a slut, Bikes, Beers, etc, etc.
