It flowed not just from their sound, but also from the way they dressed and acted and talked and moved. It was also notably characterized by what their concerts were not, by the aural silence and absence and stillness.

One Of the best, most energetic bands I saw live were the HIVES. They were a bunch of crazy Swedes and man they rocked. fun show. Also, The Flaming Lips were great.

I still think MP II is a miracle, but that killed my desire to see them live.

One of my Six Degrees Of Separation revelations: Ken Vandermark was a member of my band for several months in 1988, and we did another collaborative project/tour in '93 or '94 ...and at the time I wasn't at all a cyclist (or certainly not the obsessive cyclist I've become in the past decade). Fast-forward to the new millennia, and now whenever I mention "Vandermark" all my friends think I'm talking about Ken's brother Rob!

Would like to relive an Allman Brothers concert from 1971. All original members, and I was with a certain someone who had a spell over me back then.

More recently Pat Metheny and the Unity Band - mesmerizing concert. Wayne Shorter from about 6-7 years ago - something spell-binding about that quartet, too.

Some flamenco concerts with singer, guitarist and dancers have been unbelievable in their intensity.
