Just have the historical record show that Trump was impeached and leave it hanging over his head, all through the 2020 election cycle and possibly throughout his second term (if there is one). If the Dems manage to flip the Senate, they can proceed with a proper trial. Alas, Ms. Pelosi has not sought my counsel.

i guess ole mitch mcconnell is "wiser than Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, John Adams, Thomas Paine, and others."
and of course the electoral college is a good idea from that old phony document, but holding a president accountable for his abuse of power, obstruction of congress, lies, and election interference, well those were just little suggestions that can be overlooked because jobs.
hey you 2 out there spouting
why do you like him so much? its not jobs, you already had those. its not economy, we always have that, thats how this works, a president only has so much power over the economy, the rich folks and economists do the rest. plus he lied about that too. So without the economy piece, what is the real reason you support Trump still? immigration? wall? fashion? Some pretend notion hes "doing things different"? im curious

Pence would only serve out the remainder of DJTs term, DJT would run as the candidate in 2020, getting a chance at two more terms,
and more Supreme appointments. Impeachment, back door to 4 terms, think of impeachment as a sabbatical/political fund raiser.

No, the 22nd amendment says you can only be elected twice. The clock doesn't restart:
"No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once."

Fixed it for you, I am pretty sure DJT is acting president, so the amendment doesn't apply.

Good point. Like DJT's second-favorite president Andrew Jackson said about the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, "John Marshall has made his decision, now let him enforce it."

In some circles, there is a lot of concern over what DJT will do when/if he looses the election. Will he have enough dignity to just walk away?

I’ve watched some coverage of the impeachment hearings. But not all. Honest question, do the Dems have enough votes in the house that support the articles of impeachment?

Yes. Pelosi counted before she gave the go ahead.

Re: It’s telling that there’s no Impeachment thread on VS...
The president's conduct has made it a moral imperative that he be impeached. Failure to at least attempt to remove such an odious person from the highest office in the United States would be a failure to uphold the Constitution.

Pelosi does not bring anything to the floor she does not know will pass. That's why she's a better Speaker than Ryan or McCarthy. She ain't perfect, but she can whip a caucus.

And a violation of the oath of office every representative and senator takes:
“I, ________, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion, and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.”

Except Republican domestic enemies... They don't seem to count.
