As soon as I saw the opening scene I knew we’d be seeing shenanigans.

Yeah - google the new Cali exhaust laws. It's quite the boondoggle.

The gas that is created by cow farts from the animals we produce and eat has been scientifically proven to be more dangerous and a bigger threat to the environment and air quality than car emissions so this really is a big boondoggle. I'll eat a few less burgers if it means Craig can keep his "modified" pipes.

Yes and no. Methane from cows (it's actually burps btw) is a tremendous greenhouse gas and is a significant contributor to global warming. NOx and Ozone emissions from a modified exhaust are terrible for local air quality. All someone has to do to see the impact NOx emissions have on their local air is to compare pictures of any US city in the 70's (before catalytic converters and other smog equipment became required) to what we have today. Because of the tight emissions regs we have better air quality despite having twice as many cars on the road.

What I meant was the practice of what you have to do after getting a ticket. It's mostly going to come down to the noise and you can be ticketed without a noise meter. Then you have to take a day off work and bring your car to a referee center within a certain time to actually get it tested.

I'm into cars as much as anybody else, but I still get pissed every time the asshole in the adjacent neighborhood accelerates his un-mufflered Tacoma past my house at 6:30AM every morning. It literally rattles every window in my dining room. That's not cool.

A modified exhaust that retains its catalytic converter(s) isn't going to have any impact on emissions, except as it may relate to increased engine performance consuming more fuel...

It's about the noise, not the emissions.

I wanted to reach through my computer monitor and give jerk a hug.

    Gents:
The exhaust is as it left the Ford factory. The cops were just looking for something. The car is road legal in every respect- although the bigger super charger might not pass CARB depending on who does the testing because it theoretically was designed for 2012 and later GT500s. It actually is more efficient and runs cooler than what came on the car.

Anyway- honestly I'm not sure if I was more scared by the cops or by how frucking fast that kid drove my car. He was literally going around slow to 25mph turns at close to 80.

I didn’t think the forward facing footage looked that fast but your face told a story of a man scared for his well-being.
Add in the opening scene with you nervously rifling through the paperwork, and I honestly though you were just hamming it up for the camera!

They are about to talk about you and your car in Matt's podcast released Thursday (6/6) - just FYI. It's teased in the description and starts around 34 minutes in.

So I assume older cars are grandfathered under the CA noise law?

Laguna Seca has noise restrictions which can require additional muffling of stock exhausts, or you just have to not run wide open on certain sections of the track.

You lift coming up the hill. The sound booth is only at one well known area of the track. Or you can google some of the crazy exhaust mods people have done to redirect the dB's away from the shack. Pretty amusing.
