Best way to do it is to host the image somewhere else. Flickr seems the most dependable. In Flickr, there is a way to share an image by clicking the right curved arrow to the lower right of the image and selecting "BBCode" and then selecting the size of image you want (800 x whatever is usually fine, 1028 x whatever is more than plenty) and then copy the resulting BBCode string in the long window and past it into your post. Then you end up with something like this:

Where's the driveway? by Jorn Ake, on Flickr

If you want to upload directly onto the forum's fairly limited storage, export a copy of the image somewhere easy to find on your computer, like your desktop, keeping the size reasonable (file size not image size.) Then click the image icon above the message composition window (third icon from the right) and choose "From Computer" and then "Select Files". Pick the file from your desktop and then "upload file". The file will upload and appear in the message. Like this:

Nothing yet. I've had to put my new car plans on hold for the moment. The finances just don't add up at the moment and suddenly I'm contemplating a relocation, which will cost money. At this moment in time, I don't want to contemplate a monthly car payment, let alone a big one!

I did, however, look at the base VW Tiguan, which offers a lot of automotive goodness for a good price. The only downside (other than a slight lack of power) is that it can't be ordered with á la carte options. In other words, if you get the base model you can't get the upgraded infotainment system. Thankfully, the base model has a decent one. Honestly, it was much nicer to sit in and drive than I expected it to be and it's half the price of a Q5.

It's possible (probable) that I have Audi tastes and a VW budget. The base Tiguan has cloth seats, which I kind of like, and no sunroof, which is fantastic for me. It was spacious and quiet to drive. As I said, I liked it much more than I expected to on a 20 minute test drive a couple weeks ago.

It happens to the best of us. :-)
My next automobile purchase will be delayed years as I prioritize bicycles and home improvements first.
I love cars, yet clearly not as much as my bicycles or my residence. :-)

the suspension is just about buttoned up on my Mustang GT500 and the new supercharger goes in this week along with the required injectors, spark plugs, boost-a-pump, and cold air intake. we're also going to dyno tune it and we should be pushing close to 700hp at the wheels.

this car is the best handling thing i've ever driven at this point. it's big- but it'll outrun and now out corner a n/a 911 now. the custom 18x11 wheels are still about 3 weeks out- and they'll be getting some fancy rubber that should really make this thing into the ultimate california canyon carver.

A Mustang, chassis tuned w/ 700WHP will comfortably out pace a base 911. Likely not a Turbo or GT series car, but Mustangs are serious platforms that are often overlooked by Euro car fans. I am a fan of 911's but they are and always will be a crutched platform, Porsche has done one of the most amazing jobs of making it incredible, for a car with all the things in the wrong place. I am lucky enough to have driven most everything, including the majority of the exotics out there and real track cars (Radicals and the like), and a Mustang done well is an impressive machine not to be underestimated.

As with bikes, it always comes down to the one behind the wheel/handlebar.

But karts are the most fun anyway, just because the risk of dying is much lower. Real track time at real speed can be terrifying at times.

The collection of Ford Mustang crash videos on YouTube backs you up there. Seems like they go sideways pretty regularly.

Test drove a 2014 BMW 328d xDrive. I had really high hopes as reviews said for a diesel vehicle it had plenty of pep in its step. Turns out it did, but I also found that it had a few really bad blind spots and it confirmed that I am not ready to give up a manual transmission. Just was not that much fun to drive.

Hopefully test driving a new manual AllTrack this week. Although I don't really step on it (goose it, if you will), I find the 2.0T in my Audi A3 (Sportback) to be perfect for peppiness and fuel economy. Living where I live now though, I really want AWD. If the AllTrack doesn't work out, it may be time to give up the wagon idea and start looking at A4 sedans with a manual.

Anybody give up the wagon/hatchback/sportback and had no regrets? Or am I crazy.

    Trevor:
Back in 2008 when Volkswagon released the R32 I picked one up thinking it was going to be the best car ever. It was AWD, had tons of power, new to the world features like launch control, and a sick DSG paddle shift transmission. I got it for a super cheap price because the dealer ordered it for me and didn't know what it was- but I fucking hated that car. I wound up NEVER using the manual or sport mode and just driving it and it wasn't fun or engaging at all. I had it less than a year and traded it in for a 2008 Mustang Bullitt which was the best car I ever owned up to this GT500 and in some ways I liked the Bullitt better.

My advice is to think long and hard about how much you need the hatch/trunk. In my experience of lugging around big bikes with ISPs and 140mm stems- you can pretty much get anything in anything with the seats down. That being said- there are fun wagons you just got to make sure you pick one with monster power and monster torque so it is engaging to drive.

My advice if you really need the room- is to search CarMAX for an AMG Wagon and buy the best one you can afford with ALL the extra CarMAX scam warranty stuff. That way, you'll have a $100,000 car for about 25-30k and if anything expensive goes wrong it will never cost you more the the deductable. Honestly- it's a better plan than buying a new AMG because you'll know the cars history.

If used doesn't float your boat- just get a manual Audi or BMW. No one in the world needs a car with all wheel drive either. If a regular RWD or FWD with good snow tires can't handle it- you can't drive in it with an AWD car either. The only advantage to four wheel drive, to me, is in off road conditions and then you need the extra ground clearance a real truck gives you.

Or if you must have a wagon/hatch/awd and a manual- and don't mind the materials and fit and finish of a 1989 Caprice- get a WRX Sti.

Your taste and mine sound remarkably similar. I have a 2011 Subaru WRX hatchback and am also thinking of a manual wagon for future me. Please give driving impressions of the AllTrack as I am also interested in it. Does the VW Golf R or Ford Focus RS interest you or are they a little too far down the sporty road and not efficient enough?

To be honest, the Golf R and Ford RS are just a tad outside my price range. $30k is my max.

I’m also a firm believer that FWD and good snows will get the job done. My A3 is FWD because it is stick,

We just moved from the city to the sticks. Our road is the last road in town to get plowed, we are on propane, and no reliable internet is available where we live. The turn from our road to the main road (~5 miles away) is an uphill left with a blind corner to the right merging onto a 55mph road. My mkiv Tdi would not have the power to get up and go if a car were to suddenly emerge. Even with brand new blizzacks, I still spin out from time to time. Our driveway is an uphill gravel driveway. Mentally, AWD would be nice. 6spd manual is more important now for me.

    Test driving the AllTrack today.
Craig, does Mercedes make a wagon manual?

All bikes/skis (only 15 min from the local hill now, 40 from Holiday Valley) go on the roof. But having just bought a 180 year old house, the hatch/wagon will work better for putting larger items in the car or having the hatch open for a trip home from HomeDepot would be nice. I’m already learning that a weekly trip to the hardware store or Depot is now just part of the daily routine.

Also, Audi’s CPO program is a step above the rest.
