Yeah, I think I will plan ahead next fall and do the switch in December. I think I just got offered storage space at my race-car building friend's workshop in Woodstock.

Blizzaks actually seem the most readily available upstate (Walmart stocks them.) I like the idea of putting tires with a multi-syllabic Finnish name on the Volvo though.

Just saw an article on the design & architecture website, Dezeen, that Jaguar is going to make 25 of these.

    +1 on Blizzaks

Back when I had my Integra (fwd) the Blizzaks regularly got me up a 20% grade (entrance to my subdivision) in all types of conditions.

Traction on a 20% grade is actually about what I need, so that's good advertising.

I run Cooper Xeon RS3 G1 all seasons on my '17 WRX. Surprisingly competent tires with very good snow performance. Combined with Subaru "traction control" no problems.

I don't think it is too late to mount winter tires. I swap tires every 6 months. Winter tires work actually better in all conditions when the temp is below 12°C/53°F. I have them mounted on separate rims so I can swap them myself without having to take an appointment with a mechanic.

Definitely not too late. I have Pirelli Sottozeros on my '11 Subaru WRX hatchback. They make all the difference for getting around (especially braking) on snow or slush.

I'm with Saab. Snow tires are a luxury that becomes a necessity once you try them. I keep a set of Conti snow tires on dedicated steel rims so that I can swap them out myself.

You might be able to get a deal on snow tires right now. If you wear them out, then you'll have an excuse to buy studded tires when you move upstate full time.

Wow, that looks like the type of truck Jonathan Ward would be salivating over for an Icon build, but it almost looks too good for that, should be left alone.

I was out on the Main Line on Saturday - saw both a very clean and uncut restored FJ40, and a nicely modified NAS D90. Neither is super unusual. I *never* see a nice early Bronco. If I do, its all hacked up and looks like a circa 1994 JC Whitney catalog vomited on it.

This thing is HOT! But am I alone in seeing a Lighting McQueen character in this car? Perhaps an evil villain...?

I picked up my wagon from its 200K service today and I almost took this little red devil home by accident.

Nice, but what are those hideous things near the headlights? More lights for night-time rally-driving? That's a pretty heavy price to pay aesthetically.

Mmmm that's neat. I spy some well done mods. Bet it is a hoot to row on twisty country roads.

I just liked the red 911 because it sounded nice...I didn't worry about the plastic surgery. Somebody dropped this kit car off at the shop while I was there too...licensed and inspected for the road. Now kit cars I don't quite understand, but to each their own of course.

You ponied up for the second timing belt job? Rest of the car must be holding strong!

I spy an Audi RS6 in the background.

Drove one once. My mom took her A6 3.0 in for service at our indy mechanic and somehow wound up with an RS6 as a loaner. Woooooo boy did that thing pull...
