    Default Shit Town podcast

    Has anybody listened to this?

    S-Town Podcast

I started yesterday and binged finishing earlier today

    Wow!

I grew up in a redneck town in south Georgia and my dad was raised in a small town 8 miles outside of Montgomery so I can relate.

I also went to college in rural Tennessee and dipped in parts of Alabama during those years. Ironically, the joke about setting your watch back 7 years is true.

What I can't fathom is for someone who doesn't have any context to listen to this but the medium is so rich. It's a treat to listen to what someone called "something more like aural literature."

I tinkered with shortwave radio but never got hooked and I'm not a podcast guy but I'm already looking forward to Serial.

Thanks for the recommendation. The last week or so at work I've flown through both seasons of Serial. I'll start this one up!

Atlanta Monster is good too. It's not done yet tho, so you've got to wait for the new episodes every week.

Shit Town is a must hear. It's the pod cast i measure all pod cast.
Lived in Alabama for over 30 years; I too can relate.
I wont talk too much about the show - to not give away details, but the closing made me cry like a child. Very touching.

It is a fucking fantastic podcast.

Once you're done, try finding the labyrinth on google maps w/out any help. It's a fun quest.

I listened to it a couple months ago. Wow, incredible. Way above the level of your average podcast.

I'd be curious to hear what touched you at the end. I listened earlier today and while I thought it was closed perfectly I didn't feel moved that I remember anyway. DM if you don't mind again I'm just curious.

I binged while working so while reading emails and taking my mind off here or there; I lost 10% or so if I were undistracted still it was good work background listening. In fact I listened to the whole series in less than a day which is crazy.

Anyone who liked this podcast I recommend The Staircase a French tv series. I was blown away. It's such a unique view of a criminal defense team at work. I came to The Staircase via Making a Murderer which I also thought was good but no comparison with The Staircase for it's shot so much better and the way the whole thing unfolds I found it gripping.

It is was very moving, beguiling, disturbing, sad, and strangely uplifting. It really had me in the think zone for a good while. Recommend.

My daughter turned me on to Serial and $hittown a few years ago. Interesting podcasts that have their moments. The Bergdahl story intrigued me in particular and sort of ended in a strange manner, but the podcasts are pretty well produced imho.

I started listening to Serial yesterday and bailed after 1.5 episodes S01. I didn't care who killed who and wasn't identifying with the characters. Maybe I was spoiled by ST but the Serial host didn't move me as much with her story. Is that fair for the Baltimore murder mystery? Should I try the Afghanistan story S02?

The Bergdahl story was more interesting to me in terms of current events...military, government, Middle East, Taliban, etc.

Listened to S02 E01 & 02 this morning and agree. It’s a mess because between the military, Taliban, and deserted soldier nothing adds up.

Plenty of craziness and twists that's for sure.
