so funny to find this here. it came up as a discussion point on a tech mailing list i receive. not that it matters to you but I heard there is an issue with OSX and certificates but that only matters in an enterprise environment when MDM systems are involved.

I have never seen anything improve that much. At least the speed.
slow.

I installed a fresh Fedora OS on my work laptop 2 days ago and Firefox 57 feels indeed very fast and more comfortable to use than both previous releases and chrome. Prior to that chrome tend to be faster but it is a memory hog which lead sometimes to temporary freezes when too much tabs are opened with lots of javascript/media heavy websites on a low memory (8gb or less) laptop.

Safari on the other hand seems to get worse and worse. In fact, the whole OSX family seems to get worse and worse.
I feel like iOS is sort of like going through a kids room looking for all the stuff that used to be right on your desk.

Fast yes. But firefox has messed with bookmarks in a way that really messes up my internet use... Providing convenient access to only the most recent 10 sites you have bookmarked is just F...ing dumb... Why make the user search for a site visited every day for years? If you use more than 2 rows of sites you are out of luck...Sheesh...

Re: new firefox is indeed fast.
I just downloaded the new Firefox this morning. I really can't tell a speed difference yet at this point. I got a new laptop a couple of weeks ago so my whole experience is so much faster than before.
I typically access my bookmarks from the icon in the upper right corner and was pissed when I saw the changes. If you choose to display the menu bar across the top of the page, your bookmarks will be available for easy access.

I thought Google Chrome was the only browser still in service.

Amen. Among other things, I hate that I can no longer toggle bluetooth and wifi from the control center. I kill one or both at various times throughout the day to save battery. Now i have to go into the settings menu to disable instead of disconnect. Madness.
