If you can get it easily, Great King st is a phenominal blended that isn't so pricy that you feel bad about mixing it. Even cheaper is Bank Note ($20 for a 1L!) and believe it or not... it's pretty good. Better than Red Label.

I’ve been curious about the “legal” moonshine you can now buy, so I’ve been sampling them all the same way: small glass, a few ice cubes, and the hooch.

So far: Midnight Moon Apple Pie and Strawberry are winning. Other brands are kind of weak, or taste like straight rubbing alcohol.

We've passed around jars at BallersRide and a pal brings some to our NYE party. It gets you wrecked and not in a good way. Me no likey.

Distilling is a stupid easy. Anyone can do it. Getting good, and safe, ethanol with the desired esters in a repeatable fashion is not trivial. You can make very good stuff at home, but it won't always be good, and you might not know for sure until the next morning...

Fun fact: a remedy for methanol poisoning is more ethanol! Just don't die of ethanol poisoning...

Funny thing happened at a party we had this weekend. One of the guest claimed he makes an amazing Old Fashion using a mix hahahahahahaahaha. Oh dear I feel a headache coming on. We are planning a throwdown to commence when the first real snowstorm hits Washington, DC. Consider this a open invite. I'll have the Chimnea going and we'll be sitting on the front porch pouring drinks and cleaning guns. What could go wrong?
