I blatantly call people out on things like this. About two years ago I was on a campaign to banish the word "robust" from the office lexicon. I'm sure I pissed people off, but they also got a lot more careful in choosing words.

My grump: hiring lawyers because insurance companies are misbehaving....

A month or so ago I was at a conference and met a cple guys, one of whom I remembered, the other not so much. We chatted about our respective companies and how they might work together. Simple stuff. 5 minutes tops. The one I remembered followed up via email and cc'd the other. I replied to both and indicated that I didn't recall, the one I didn't recall. He replied: I was standing next to you, but Dan was driving most of the positioning.

WTF. I think that says it all. I won't be communicating w/him again, god willing.

Yes I'm from MO and we have a high arch on the other side of the state that is of interest to many, but I'm not interested in recently discovering they had infected my feets. Custom orthotic$ in my near future...

Might as well get those Sidis now - no sense molding $400 orthotics into a $50 shoe.

My past few months of grumpy Thursdays were resolved on Monday when I was let go from the shop.

We got our annual benefits enrollment package. Corporate letter stated..."as a result of implementation of the Affordable Care Act, we have no other option but to raise premiums by XX%. We realize these premiums are not as affordable as they used to...blah blah blah." Insurance premiums are about to surpass my mortgage. Affordable Care Act? Does anyone actually believe this is going to work?

Step 1: Form work group to examine the effect that banning the word robust will have on the workforce, productivity and moral.

Step 2: Schedule twice weekly meetings for each work group. Set aside first several weeks to Form, several more to Storm, couple months to Norm and then 24 hours to Perform

Step 3: Spend first four meetings worrying if all key stakeholders in the "robust" debate are represented on team. Run some feelers up the flagpole with key stakeholders to ensure traction for the Robust Limitation Initiative (RLI)

Step 4: Spend two meetings contemplating a logo and catch phase to drive RLI deep into the corporate culture

Step 5: When presenting RLI progress to senior management governance group RLI WG is reminded that all effective culture altering initiatives (CAIs) have a Charter, a Mission Statement and a PowerPoint slide deck and slogan enumerating impact in a forward looking innovative manner. Team is overwhelmed and seeks budget to hire a consulting team to perform the heavy lifting on RLI.

Step 6: Holiday break. Nothing happens between Thanksgiving and New Years so present Charter and Consultant provided metrics and timelines.

Step 7: Team tasked with new objective: While overuse of "Robust" is indeed annoying, it's come to managements attention that not enough rubber is meeting the road and there is a critical need to strategize around how to impact this arena. RLI team is re-tasked in real time to face this mission critical objective.

Step 8: Team spends next six meetings grousing about myopic management and inability of senior leaders to focus and get things done in timely fashion.

Step 9: Team laid off due to unfortunate market shifts and unforeseen headwinds.

    Step 10: Push-ups in 1....2.....3.......

Some would say it's working just as planned.

My enrollment happens here soon, and HR has been awful quiet on the matter.

Yes Sir. It is working as planned for some.

Our HR before the release...not a peep. Then they dropped it on us. Later than usual this year. I think they are bracing themselves now.

When people are able to comment that X cost is more than their mortgage payment. Nothing in the foreseeable future will cost me more than my monthly payment.

Double grump that my job and family keeps me in this expensive market. I love my boys but they cost a lot; daycare, sports, increased housing cost for the good school district, food....last one is killing me - 1st was the there are not leftovers for lunch and now they are eating my second helpings.

Third grump... insurance healthcare cost - between my boys breaking bones (monkey bars, skiing) and dental issues (me) my out of pocket expenses this year totaled $3,500, and this is from someone who works for healthcare company - who you think would have a good plan.

I am going home take the kids trick or treating - Childhood innocence and enthusiasm for such little things is a great stress reliever.

sending an email (to chancerider's colleague) with three questions that need to be answered in order for me to perform the task they originally requested. getting one question answered in the response with zero acknowledgement of the other two.

i didn't ask them three questions just for fun. i need the answers.

oh, and tomorrow, when they send me an email asking for an update on my progress, i will remind them that there are still two unanswered questions and therefore zero progress.
