After reading the article and photo captions, it is not clear to me which the material of the pictured frame is made of. Just a mention that the team is using steel and carbon frames.

That was kind of my point. I get the sense that they went to significant lengths to make the steel frame look like their carbon variety, perhaps at the expense of some of what could have been done with the steel frame, especially with respect to weight. However, I now regret mentioning it because it wasn't my intent to criticize the frame or the company. I just might have done it differently. But then, that's a builders prerogative, and I am sure that they had their reasons.

If we're still talking about the Rapha-Condor steel bikes, Columbus was showing a similar frame and tubes at Nahbs/Denver and I believe they'll be selling the tubes under the "Super Accaiao" name.
I'm sure it rides nice and all but it does seem like an exercise to make a tapered fork seem less-weird on a steel frame - the tail wagging the dog, as has been said before.
