weddings should always be held on tuesday afternoons when nothing else is going on. Otherwise, they will inevitably be on the nicest day of the year. Saturday weddings are for suckers. Oh yea, whoever asked which one will have the hottest chicks. Atlanta, southern girls, no doubt.

so i wont have to do pushups.. Grump, its valentines my wife is in San Antonio, probably with her boyfriend. Another year, another insensitive hooker. Seriuosly her aunt passed away, in case she reads this.)

OK - 38 degrees, sunny, I'm working from home and all I had time for was 75 minutes in the basement staring at the paint cans. When you can't even steal time when you're home things have gone horribly wrong. Voice over IP and instant messaging are tools of the Devil.

But I get to crank KPIG all day so there's that.

Listening to KPIG in the car is one of the treats of going home.

Job hunting is the worst. Got laid off last tuesday, and now on the hunt for new work. eff me. I'd just started that job 5 months ago. Low man on the totem pole i guess (well, one of them - 8%ish of our office was laid off).

had a job interview monday with two partners of a small shop, and the one partner was completely disinterested and barely said 5 words the whole time. then, the next day in his linkedin feed, 'big day for our new hire tomorrow at [redacted]'. I guess i didn't get the job then. in fact, I was clearly never really in the running. Thanks for wasting my time.

Someone dumped a telephone book in my driveway where the Times usually goes and Sogn brought it inside with him after his bathroom break.

I don't have any use for a telephone book, so I gave it to him.

Now I have to clean up before my wife gets home.

Been waiting almost a week for this one.
Went to the Seattle Bike Swap last week and couldn't believe how valuable people thought their old shit was. Who the fuck wants to pay more than the eBay/Craigslist rate for the stuff you don't want in your garage anymore. Why the hell did you bring it to an event like this if it's so freaking sweet.
Oh yeah, what's with the hard sell on shitty old parts that you're not willing to haggle on, and what's with looking offended when I offer you $200 for something you're asking $300 for? Get over yourself and your gear. If it was so very awesome you wouldn't be getting rid of it.

As of Monday morning, I am sick again. Since October - bah, I have lost count. I seem to get a week off and then it is back. Same thing - sort of a cold sinus back of the throat thing that leaves me staring at the wall like someone slipped me something in my drink. Mucus brain. This time, I am just trying to wade through it. WTF. All the other times I drank fluids, got rest, plenty of chicken soup. This time, cigarettes and cigars. Maybe at the same time.

I stop in Excel to buy the Park Tools Through Axle Adapter for my TS2 truing stand.

The guy working tells me that people don't use truing stands anymore since everyone has disc brakes... Really?

The rental housing market in Westchester, NY. Just can't win.
    Great apartment, cheap, shit neighborhood.
    Shit apartment, cheap, nice neighborhood.
    Great apartment, expensive, nice neighborhood.
I would love to actually buy instead of renting, but I don't know where I want to settle down for the next 5 years.
Also I am now stuck in this horrible cycle of moving at the end of February, which in NY/CT is an awful pain in the ass. Year after year I am reminded of my horrible timing when it came to lease signing.

I was looking at 650b conversion candidates on ebay yesterday. $1800 for an '80s Trek? Uh, yeah, good luck with that. Buddy, it doesn't matter that your frame still has all the early 80s piece of shit brakes/tires/wheels still on it. It is actually cheaper to buy something new or go custom. Amazing.

I have a late 90's rock hopper you or mjb can have gratis if interested. 21'' btw.

My gripe this week: being asked to do things for people who don't know what they want. Resulting in me doing about 10000 things no one really needs or wants.

    This is petty, but...

    Just stumbled across this:
    image.6552.jpg

How much would you pay for that?
If you said $55, then you are in for a treat at Voyager Rope Key Chain | Saturdays

This is about 50 cents worth of utility cord and a $2 brass hook. Seriously.
    my name is Matt

If people will spend $3500 on a weekend sausage fest with side orders of riding motorcycles and grilled artichokes, they will spend $55 on a keyring.

I told my wife that what I really wanted for Valentine's Day was a friendship bracelet. She told me she couldn't find one anywhere.

Either she didn't look very hard or else she was scared off by the $55 pricetag. I would have been fine with a brass hook closure on it.

My wife has been seriously undercharging for her jewelry and I have been telling her this for years. She'd sell either of those for $15 tops.

Oh, and the carmel frosting I made for the chocolate cake I just baked was a fricking pain because it was too dry. That makes me grumpy.

yesterday i got a bil from my dr's office which of course i couldn't decipher so i called. they said call the ins co, they had adjusted my copay. call ins co: the code was for a mtng w/a surgeon, thus a higher copay. i met w/a nurse practitioner. call dr office, they confirm. call ins co relay dr office confirmation - ins co will resubmit to billing i'll receive something in 30 days. "why can't we just zero it out right now, we agree its a mistake" i might as well have asked if she'd meet me at an airport hotel after emailing nude pics of her making pizza. then i asked: how will i be compensated for this mistake, since when i make a mistake a i usually pay for it, silence, stammering...

Please clarify which was dry. That's my grump. Because all I had for lunch today was an egg and a roma tomato, and if I'm going to have a 4:20pm fantasy about cake I want it to be good. I can live with dry icing.

Damn, sorry about that. The cake rocks. Devil's food recipe from King Arthur. I just had to keep adding a little water to get the frosting to spread. Tastes fine, just not pretty.
