New Build and odd axle question

I am working on an über townie for a fellow and planned around using a TRP Cross fork with Thru axle , disc, and fender bosses, married to a Peter White built front wheel with Schmidt Son 15 thru-axle dynamo hub-
I figure to use the supplied thru-axle or swap out for a DT Swiss to match the rear (Rohloff, also Peter White built, blah blah blah).

My client asks me if I could price up some Pitlock parts, which Peter White carries- Never heard of it, but sure!
Crazy German theft proof bolt system, and skewers.. OK
So... it'll work for the rear, but not the front... My guy is really set on these, hell it took me a half hour to convince him to not go with the Pitlock seat collar bolt (yuck).
But the Pitlock system does fit in with his Germanized über bike...

So- my question is this.
Is there such a thing or way in which to run a 9mm type skewer with a thru-axle hub and fork? I see plenty of ways to adapt the hub for a QR style fork.
I was looking at the Tune thru-axles and it looks like a half breed of a QR and a common thru-axle, and that got me thinking: could I just run the Pitlock through a properly sized 15mm tube?

and yes- I realize it's wack.
I want to exhaust the possibilities before I come back with a NO.

Make a one off 15mm axle and braze the Pitlock head to the axle.

PS I am not thinking this through just blurting out an idea. I've never really had a close look at how the 15mm system works.

Might be an idea to point him to atomic22 much nicer than the Pitlock stuff. Not sure of they do a 15mm bolt-thru solution but drop them a line and ask. Patrick is your man. They're a good bunch.

As an aside, it's worth noting that those forks don't use the standard DT front axle, they use the funky 'road' one. Also, you mention fender mounts. There isn't a TRP fork with fender mount available yet. They say they will do one and it's listed on QBP (without eta) but my conversations with them suggest it's still some way off being a product.

With builds of this complexity, like this one with all the parts you mention, wheels laced by me, you both have to be on the same page before you cut tubes.

Hindsight, I know………..does Schmidt offer 15QR -> 9mm conversion end caps?

Other than having to go through returning a bunch of stuff- I could find a different fork and Schmidt certainly makes a QR version.

I don't think it is different to be honest. We just had early access to them and they came needing finished (painted).

Gotcha. It's good looking and could make a nice alternative to the ENVE for a thru-axle fork. Appreciate the quick reply!

It's not that i'm a'feared to build a fork, it's that I know that I can't make one as sexy, as strong, as design appropriate- in the amount of time I have allotted to the fork build. a high quality, well engineered Carbon tapered steerer post most mount disc fork = Under $300
The same fork built in steel or Ti- fuck that! I'm not sure I could charge enough.

If you acquiesce don't be surprised when some day in the future, another man buys his rear assemblies from Merry Sales and his forks from China Inc, and mates these to the main triangles he fabs. The niche has already conceded enough to industry. Don't accept that you can't make the entire ordeal just because buying a fork is normal these days. A fork isn't an accessory you add to a build list. Where the front wheel goes, and how it's held when it's in the frame you make - these are all connected. It's your bicycle atmo. Own all of it.

Indeed you are correct. Building all the pieces of the tailored suit is always the right thing to do, and lord knows I have the tools to make the cuff links and the bow tie. In this situation, I have started the clock too late and over promised, so I am reaping the rewards of my short cuts. But from an aesthetic stand point, the TRP fork cuts such a nice figure, I just didn't want to say no.
In the end I will most likely go with the Atomic22 product and devise a bolt-on style QR thru axle.
What can I say, I'm a sucker for a carbon fork.
