Beyond NAHBS, what did you think of Louisville?
I live in Louisville, but would like to hear feedback from those who made it in town for NAHBS. What did you think of the city, from the local people, restaurants, bars and such. I concede the weather sucked, and snow in March happens once every ten years.

Weather was fine, seemed like home yo ;)
Downtown is nothing super special. The river is REALLY pretty and the people are stellar. I personally love the hospitality groove that L'ville has to offer. Food at every turn was off the hook, great gastro pubs and seemed like every waiter/bartender knew their trade....no complaints.
I really was too busy working my table and passing out after to visit your fair city to it's fullest potential but I'd like to come back.

I agree that the downtown wasn't that special but there were parts of town with amazing character. We had the benefit of a local to take us around. He happened to be an architect so that helped as he knew the places with the most visual interest such as Bardstown Road and some fine grand old neighborhoods. We took Saturday off and did distillery tours at Woodford Reserve, Buffalo Trace, Four Roses and visited the new and architecturally significant visitor center at Wild Turkey. We ate at Harvest, St. Charles Exchange and the Marketplace. Favorite drinking spot was Proof with the cool art gallery and a demographic more like ours (above 40). I would like to go back and see Churchill Downs and visit the horse country when there is no snow. It was insanely cold for my California spoiled behind but nice for a change. The river lends a riverboat huckfinn character to the place with its industrial working river charm. Lexington has many of the qualities of livable cities such as Portland, Sacramento or Austin.

Never had a bad meal or drink, that's for sure!
Like Josh, my day was pretty much wake up, go to breakfast, go to expo and work, then dinner, then bed. There really wasn't much time for exploring the city, but I would have liked to. We were planning on doing rides but weather got in the way of that. We probably could have ridden Saturday morning, but I was hesitant to take a group out and all of a sudden hit an ice patch with a group of cyclists.
I definitely would have liked to have been able to see more of the city.

So awesome Boyd! I left Louisville pretty much in shock at how great a time I had. The worst part was getting there (from Reno it was 3 flights, weather delayed luggage although we got on an earlier flight and beat the weather.) The people of Louisville were fantastic, Southern Charm, with East Coast class (for lack of a better word), and the venue was so easy from my hotel. This vegan eater had Zero problems finding amazing food. (Perhaps all the Kosher options were available as well due to the locale of the Jewish Hospital!). I ran every morning.
So all my stereotypes got quashed. It was one of my favorite NAHBS!
