Awful. My wife has periodic seizures, and often suffers short term memory loss as a result. It always comes back, but very scary until it does.
Hoping and praying Jason reacts the same way.
"As an homage to the EPOdays of yore- I'd find the world's last remaining pair of 40cm ergonomic drop bars.....i think everyone who ever liked those handlebars in that shape and in that width is either dead of a drug overdose, works in the Schaerbeek mattress factory now and weighs 300 pounds or is Dr. Davey Bruylandts...who for all I know is doing both of those things." - Jerk
My latest report is that Jason has started to remember more!
Opened this thinking it was a joke with a video clip of someone doing something really stupid. This sucks!
When you say "no memory", do you mean he has (HAD hopefully) no memory of anything, or just right before he fainted?

Wishing a speedy recovery.
Boy, it can happen anytime. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
Great to hear some recovery has begun, hope he's back to normal very soon. Get Well J!
Good thoughts his way.

How it was reported to me by a mutual friend was that he had no memory of anything - not just that he couldn't remember the events surrounding the incident.
When he was in high school, my son suffered a bad concussion as a result of being toe-tackled in a football game. He smacked his forehead very hard on the turf. The shock to his frontal lobes...where memory is largely controlled...resulted in his complete loss of memory..of anything. Scary night in the ER as he slowly regained memory of his name, where he was, who I was, etc... It took 8 hours before he stopped repeating himself and began to recall how he had been injured, etc.. It took a few days for him to begin to recall childhood memories and the like. Very scary. But.....it all came back., and in a week he was back in school and doing fine. He's been good since...no after-effects whatsoever. Watching someone go thru this is scary and disheartening, to say the least. I'm going with the hope and the expectation that similar positive results will happen here. God Bless him.

Thanks for the update, Doug. Good thoughts going out.
This sounds horrifying for him and his family. Wishing a quick and complete recovery.
From the description provided, it sounds like he had a concussion. As a result of a concussion, an individual can have post-traumatic amnesia (PTA). Unless the head injury was severe (i.e., weeks of coma, evidence of major bleeds on imaging), basically all available research suggests that he should have a good (full) recovery. There are several factors that can impact the degree of recovery, but his relatively young age and good health are factors that improve the likelihood of an excellent recovery.
I don't mean to minimize the scariness or severity of the situation. That said, a lot known about mild traumatic brain injury, and I hope (through this post) to be able to provide some optimism.

Yikes, wishing a speedy recovery and sending positive thoughts. What a shocker.
All best positive thoughts and wishes for Jason. Sounds like a positive trend already! Tim
wow, this must be absolutely horrible for his family to be going through. Sending positive thoughts his way and hoping that the recovery is swift and painless.
It really makes you stop and think. Here's a young, healthy, strong guy trying to do some good (as it always seems that he is). It's frightening how quickly things can turn sour.
I've watched some of the videos of these ice bucket challenges gone wrong and I'm surprised that we dont hear of more serious injuries

Sorry for Jason and all positive thoughts for a speedy recovery.
