    Default My swing dropout design

Going to machine a set of swing dropouts for my Alfine equipped, long and low roadster that Steve G has helped me start. Will allow ~15mm of adjustment with ~4mm of axle height change. Will use chain ring bolts with the long nuts to support the plates. Use a large washer on the inside of the bottom pivot to increase the clamping surface area and recessed into the dropout.

Reminds me of these from Black Cat Bicycles:

Yes, inspired by the Black Cat. I have admired it for a while, though I did not look at it again when I started drawing mine. Just grabbed the disc spec and fit it to my frame drawing.

Shig showed me the drawing a couple of days ago- I like that its a tab design. I'm excited to see what the first pair looks like!

    Looks great Shiggy,
I've been thinking about doing something similar for these commuter bikes I've been building.
Please post pics when you get them done.

my dos centavos: make the tabs longer, bigger & rounded - more real estate to attach stays & it will allow for flexibility when building different sizes, esp. smaller rear triangles. looks cool. get a bunch! Steve.

Good thoughts for them being more versatile as a stock item. These will a one-off. If anyone wants to make more I will gladly share my drawing (PDF format). Just ask that I get some of the end product for personal use.

You probably have already, but just in case, you should have a look at the Vulture swingers too.
