Default What fork crown would you recommend?

For a titanium frame with 1 1/8" steerer tube/Chris King headset and, I think, around a 38mm head tube, what cast fork crown would you recommend for running up to 35mm tires or smaller ones with a fender? Rim brake bike. Just thinking about a backup to the midreach carbon fork on it now, which is no longer available if I needed to replace it. I see a number of crowns on Framebuilder Supply and have no clue which ones, if any, would be appropriate. I think a flat crown would look nice with the larger headtube diameter, as opposed to a sloping crown, fwiw.

For the fork blades, I think Max would look really cool, but also think that would be overkill, so maybe something like 853?

    Thanks for feedback.

Given the larger tubes of a ti frame I do think a MAX fork would be a good choice but they aren’t available in a flat crown, afaik. For a flat crown with big blades I like the SaxMAX fork, might be worth looking at: https://richardsachs.com/product/the...-uos-fork-kit/

These guys make several crowns for Max blades and 1 1/8” steerer tubes. I made a fork using their flat crown version ‘B’.

We had zero luck with their products here but it sounds like you did. Well done!

Do you mean you they were too difficult to work with or you couldn't get them?

We could get them but we couldn’t get the blades into the crowns. We like to brass-braze fork crowns here and if the fit is too light the brass won’t flow. And we massaged, sanded, etc. but at a certain point it just seemed useless. There are so many crowns that are designed to actually work that this was a bit of a shocker. I have three for sale if you’d like them - pretty sure ours are Type “F” (non-stainless).
