Default The Game: Ohio State vs Michigan

The Game will be played in Columbus next week…first time since 2006 that the Buckeyes and Wolverines are both undefeated going into the game. Good read on the history of the event which was first played in 1897, in the link from Ohio State’s library.

As a Pen State alumnus, I’m hoping they both lose.

I lived in the border city, where it was about a 50:50 split in UM vs. OSU supporters.

All sorts of silliness ensues this time of year in those parts.

One year, a Wolverine fan-physician had an Buckeye fan-physician’s (a urologist) patients take methylene blue for the big day, so the OSU-physician would be greeted with foley bags full of blue pee.

As long as Alabama or Clemson don't get to the final 4 I am happy

Georgia,TCU, OSU or UMICH, USC (everyone wanted to be a USC Tailback when I was a kid) will be a nice change. . .

Nightmare is whoever wins OSU UMICH next week loses in to Big Ten West in championship and no one gets invited.

TCU or USC both choke and somehow Alabama again get a berth.... Keep giving SEC two bites at the apple every year and the myth of SEC dominance endures.

I’m having a hard time being excited by either team this year. The OSU team that beat UW in the rose a few years ago, that team was exciting. The OSU team that beat Utah in the rose, that team was exciting. This year they seem good enough to keep winning but they haven’t been exciting yet. And Harbaugh, well, he hasn’t fielded an exciting team since he was in Palo Alto coaching Andrew Luck. Man, I hated when UW played those Stanford teams. Luck always had an amazing receiver who could overcome 3rd and 20.

Do they still handout megaphones at games? My youngest made a point and said that UM’s colors are maize and blue….excuse me.

Appropriate, as that entire program ought to have served time in a figurative penitentiary.

SMU was handed a time-out for mere under-the-table payments to its athletes. The PSU program enabled unimaginable iniquities and was allowed to continue. When a venial, breach of contract violation is punished more harshly than abetting actual venal crime, that’s an indictment of just how morally bankrupt “collegiate sport” is.

OK so, the Bucks lost last year, and this year they have a better team. So Har Har Harbaugh might be sent packing with his shorts around his ankles. And, Penn St has done a decent job of rebuilding its program after an unfair punishment to athletes who had nothing to do with what happened above them.

Completely agree, as a PSU alum. The denialism by some rabid PSU fans was disgusting.

I think Blue tends to be a team of mudders...
A wet field probably favours Harbaugh style.

When I see photos like these, I remember my friend’s Dad and our family Dentist, who was a noseguard on Pitt’s football team from 1939-1943. He was selected to play in the East-West all star game in 1943 before he went off to the Marines. Came back from the war, graduated from dental school and became the head Dentist for the local correctional facility, as well as had a family practice. His nose was never straight after playing football with a leather helmet and no face guard and man, could he crush a handshake.

Any chance for a UM win centers around whether Corum and/or Edwards return (at full capacity).
