    Default Threaded Seat Post Lug

Curious as to why one would use a threaded seat post lug vs. a non threaded lug with a seat lug bolt & nut assembly like this from RS. Does it provide better clamping force so maybe gravel or mountain bikes would utilize a threaded seat post while a road bike could get away with threadless?

    Thanks

Independent of binding ability is the reliability and replacement aspects that are more a concern for third world tourists and teenagers. A through hole binder is easier to find a make shift bolt for than a threaded binder is. Andy
