    Default OT: What is this??

Sorry, totally OT here, but I dont know where else to start?

Doing some yard work at the new house, hit something hard with the shovel and found this buried in the back yard a few inches down. yanked it out. It's solid brass and very heavy. Does anyone recognize what this might be?

It's hard to judge scale in that picture.
    How big is it?

    More pictures if possible please!

I have no idea what that is, but it is an interesting puzzle. What are you going to do with it?

Angry, did it have a cover, or just open? Was it buried as shown in the picture, or flipped the other way? Is the other end open also, or closed?

    Dude, we need information.

I don't know if you use Reddit (I do, sometimes...) but this is a good candidate for r/WhatIsThisThing. You'll probably get an answer within the day.

I grew up about a half hour west of AG,and one day me and my buds found something similar in the woods though about 4x1 inch and 24” across.
No one had any clue until a few months later we found a bell shaped things that fit perfectly within the older thing. Stolen right off a NJ Bell office. Which is the same company my Nan and pop both worked for their entire careers from WW2 to the eighties.
    my name is Matt

Looks like an in ground cemetery vase. Dig a little deeper and see what you find!
