    Default euro nymphing?

Isn't that Crappie gear made fancy and expensive for folks trying to circumvent fly fishing only rules. I've been away for awhile but recently dusted off my light rods and went to the fly shop. WTF!? Then I googled and saw what this is! Anyone else annoyed by this? It doesn't get to me like ebikes do and I haven't yet seen anyone on the local streams using this "technique" but that is only a matter of time.

Boy, "Euro Nymphing" sure seems to mean something completely different from what it did when I was a single 20-something...

It’s just tight line nymphing with multiple flys. Don’t overthink it.

Just another way to get you to buy a new rod because the one you have isn’t ________ (fill in the blank). It’s just like the reason you NEED a gravel bike, disc brakes and electronic shifting.

Don't knock it till you've tried it ... tie on a size 18 red Zebra midge in Montana or a Perdigon nymph in Euroland and you'll catch fish. Of course a woolly bugger is manual Super Record™

Is this what you mean by euro nymphing, is it somehow less of a "purist" approach to fly fishing? At 25 seconds in the animation shows two flies on the tippit(?), is that the difference? Thanks, from a non fly fishing guy.

My favorite outrage threads are the ones where I have no idea what everyone's yelling about.

Are the locals out catching the stockers with bait again?

Yes, this is a good example.

Yes. Yes. And yes. No fly line: or if it is present, it is on the reel and only monofilament is beyond the rod tip. No fly: It more closely resembles in weight and profile a crappy jig. No fly casting: which requires fly line and a fly. It gets worse---"Fly Fishermen are using 15 weight "fly rods" to troll flys. A #15 rod?!

Fly fishing is one of the few things I'm happy to under-think. I stand in a beautiful river for a while. A fly rod and flies are present.

I have nothing to add because I've only seen A River Runs Through It.

But I am oddly jealous of those of you who know what's going on.

I had to do a search for euro nymphing to see understand what it was and the first hit was for something talking about competitive fly fishing. Man... talk about missing the point.

I stopped fishing when dynamite was made illegal. Just too hard to club each one over the head with a stick.
