I received a decanter (no lead) as a present. Having never used one before, I decided to try it out with a bottle of Buffalo Trace. The aesthetics are nice, the pouring is nice, basically a lot is nice except: I noticed the stopper isn't a perfect fit. A month later, I poured myself some BT. The bourbon seemed fine but the flavor was a little different and maybe not as "hot" on the pallet. 3-4 months later the bourbon clearly seems different. Not like its gone bad but lighter on the pallet. Wondering about evaporation or oxidation, a little internet research says decanters are pretty but maybe not a good multi-month storage vessel for those reasons.

Anyone with more decanter experience want to share? Is this really for parties but not enjoying a little from time to time?

Kind regards,
Keith
